The .epro files are automatically generated, so the most likely problem
is with the awk script that generates those files (or the way your awk
interprets the script).

I've now fixed the problem; just thought I'd let the list know, in caseanyone else has similar problems. The problem was the old gawk (2.11,patchlevel 1). It compiles fine against gawk 3.1.1.
