Hi Dan,
you can use <Ctrl-S>, <Ctrl-R> for that, as in emacs (or zsh,
bash history searching).
The biggest problem I have with info myself is its emacs key
binding.
There's an info extension for vim, but last time I checked, it
wasn't as usable as info.
