zsh forward completion (quite embarrassing)

Hi
Today I meant to  type

ls mainf<tab> to complete mainfile.php

and instead mistyped

ls ainf<tab> and to my surprise it completed correctly to mainfile.php

I've always expected to do say

ls *ainf<tab> 

So is forward completion standard with compinit or do you need flags set etc?
