After unpacking 3.0.1 on /tmp and patching (including the nfs-patch),
configure DID find FIFOs correctly.
We have Solaris2.4 (FOUR!) and use momentarily /tmp on swap.
It might go wrong on Solaris 5.1 (did somebody else test that ?)
