I finally realised I could try this at home.
I think the thing to do is make `ulimit -v' refer to RLIMIT_AS when
RLIMIT_VMEM doesn't exist and document this. Then `ulimit -v' will use
RLIMIT_AS which will correctly multiply by 1024.
I will commit this without posting any more versions.
