This is a typical ad hominem fallacy. Even people who are often wrong
can make valid arguments. You should focus on the argument, not the
person.
And of course I wasn't wrong before, just like I wasn't wrong now. You
*thought* I was wrong, which is very different.
The only difference between then and now is that this time there was a
100% objective way for me to prove that I'm right.
Either way it shouldn't matter: you have your opinions, I have mine.
It's OK to disagree. But past discussions have no bearing on present
arguments.
Also, I would like to point out that you said this "SAVEHIST greater
than HISTSIZE is always equivalent to its being equal to HISTSIZE as
we have said repeatedly", but you don't speak for everyone, and if you
look at the thread *nobody* agreed with what you said except one other
person, and *nobody* repeated anything. You made the claim once, and
Roman said the same claim once. No repeating.
And then you said "please read mails more carefully before making such
firm assertions".
Maybe you should follow your own advice and then you would realize
that nobody agreed with you in this thread, except one person.
My advice to you is focus on the ball, not the player. This is not a
competition, the objective is to improve zsh, not score points. If I'm
wrong, then I'm wrong, but I'm not wrong just because you say so.
And just for record since you didn't state it explicitly: are we in
agreement that SAVEHIST being bigger than HISTSIZE does have an
effect? In fact, this whole sidetrack reinforces my original point
that people do not necessarily understand SAVEHIST and HISTSIZE, even
zsh expert veterans.
Cheers.
