Me doesn't usually agree w/ Apple... yet, as webp *is* redundant, and
its canonical implementation *is* seriously buggy, me can see the point
in this.
So, me'd say: better avoid webp in the interests of compatibility.
(Just me 2 cents on the matter though.)
