Seems like you don't understand Internet mailing lists: the point is to
send a reply directly back to the sender, *optionally* (yet usually)
sending a copy to the list, if it's relevant enough to warrant such
wider dissemination.

(Such is the original practice on netnews, as well.)

Leaves me to note (admittedly going a bit off-topic here...) that me
doesn't understand this spam complaint. We (me and me mate =) have our
own domain here and we aren't shy about spreading our e-mail addys
around. We have no spam filter and yet we receive very little spam. So
going purely by our experience... you needn't worry. YMMV! :)
