Thanks for looking at it so quickly. OS and version as mentioned in orig message:

Hmm. I was running this on an old 32-core server, I realize I see the same obvious hang if I run it on my laptop instead or simply restrict the number of cores with 'taskset'.
So that 'wait' isn't helpful, is it? Suggest to just remove it, and then run with more iterations. Hopefully there's no more way to hang, and even on my old 4 core thinkpad i now see the same errors with e.g. 'crash.zsh 10000'
