surprisingly there were, apparently, no regressions. but we did miss a
few other patches, and oliver is interested in a 5.9.2 as well. so i'll
look into this. no eta yet

@ the list: if there are any other patches you'd like to be included,
please let me know. as before i'd rather avoid anything that could be
considered compatibility-breaking or otherwise risky/surprising for a
point release
