In addition to duplicated work, it seems to cause real problems.
i've tried a few times and got different errors depending on
timing (or how many jobs to use for make).
case-1:
mv: cannot stat 'patchlevel.h.tmp': No such file or directory
make[5]: *** [Makemod:545: patchlevel.h] Error 1
case-2: (broken libzsh.dll)
cat: stamp-modobjs.tmp-SrcQszsh: No such file or directory
Updated `stamp-modobjs'.
gcc -std=gnu23 -g -shared -Wl,--export-all-symbols -o libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll.tmp.$$ `cat stamp-modobjs` -lpcre2-8 -liconv -ldl -lncursesw -lrt -lm -lc; \
(probably stamp-mobjs was empty when creating libzsh.dll)
mv -f libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll.tmp.$$ libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll
(snip)
LD_RUN_PATH=/home/takimoto/.local/lib/zsh gcc -std=gnu23 -g -o zsh.exe main.o zsh.res.o libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll -lpcre2-8 -liconv -ldl -lncursesw -lrt -lm -lc
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-cygwin/14/../../../../x86_64-pc-cygwin/bin/ld: main.o: in function `main':
/home/takimoto/src/zsh/zsh/Src/./main.c:93:(.text+0x4c): undefined reference to `zsh_main'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
case-2a: (similar to case-2)
gcc -std=gnu23 -g -shared -Wl,--export-all-symbols -o rlimits.dll rlimits..o ../../Src/libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll -lpcre2-8 -liconv -ldl -lncursesw -lrt -lm -lc
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-cygwin/14/../../../../x86_64-pc-cygwin/bin/ld: rlimits..o: in function `set_resinfo':
/home/takimoto/src/zsh/zsh/Src/Builtins/rlimits.c:198:(.text+0xe): undefined reference to `zshcalloc'
case-3:
In this case, build apparently succeeds, but resulting zsh.exe depends on
libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll.tmp.$$:
% ldd Src/zsh.exe
(snip)
libzsh-5.9.999.3-test.dll.tmp.51386 => not found
If fixing these is difficult, probably we can tweak configure.ac (or other files)
so that .NOTPARALLEL: is added to Makefiles if building on Cygwin.
