Terminal problem after Updating zsh

Hello,

i still wrote an E-Mail in February 2025 and i still have the same problem:

After updating the login shell in the terminal, it doesn’t work. If i try to check Hash / Checksum i become the following answer:

Without SHA-256, only Drag&Drop the file i want to ckeck, i receive: zsh: permission denied

After SHA-256 + file: zsh: no such file or directory

I couldn't find a solution in the mac-forum. Even a hard reset didn't help either. I can't solve the problem, so can you help me?

This is not a security-related question, so zsh-security is the wrong
place to send it.

It's also not really a zsh question, it's a MacOS interface question.

What exactly do you mean by this?
-- drag the file onto the terminal icon in the dock?
-- drag the file into an open terminal running a shell?

The normal response in the latter case is to paste the name of the
file into the terminal command line.  The former case depends on
whether any terminal windows are already open, it might just switch to
an existing window and do nothing else.

So I'm unclear on what "check the checksum" means.  If you have some
sort of configuration to invoke a checksum program, that probably
needs to be updated.

I would suggest first directing this to a Mac forum, and if you get no
information there, try zsh-users.

Hi,

i have a problem after updating the login shell.

Normally I can drag and drop files into my terminal to check the checksum.

After I updated the login shell within the terminal, this no longer works. It said “The default interactive shell is now zsh. To update your account to use zsh....” After I pressed Enter, the following message always appeared when I dragged in files:

zsh: permission denied

This may be due to the fact that I had to set up a new volume with Apple Support and the wrong path is now stored here under Settings, Users & Groups, “Logon shell” or “User folder”. I have not changed this manually, I have only followed the above request
in the terminal to update the account to zsh.

I would be very happy if you could help me.

Best regards
Ch. Costantini
