You never answered these questions:

I don't know of any default configuration where dropping a file takes
any action other than pasting the file name into the application.  In
the case of Termiinal.app, that means the file name ends up on the
shell command line, and that's all -- nothing gets executed.  In fact
if I drop a file onto the dock icon, the most recently active shell
window gets focus but the file itself is just ignored.

So you need to explain which terminal program you're using -- if it is
Terminal.app, what's the "Shells open with:" value in general
settings? -- and what "drop into my terminal" means exactly.

It might also help to know what exactly you mean by that.  What does
"SHA-256 + file" even mean?  Explain all your steps in detail.
